Bo Arenander

The intuitive result of an educated dancer, choreographer and large-scale ceramicist transferring his love for the human body into clay. With extensive studies during the mid 70’s in both Stockholm and New York, Bo Arenander (b. 1954, SE) has over 40 years of experience as a creating artist.

Fascinated by the human anatomy his work presents organic twists and turns that bring life and movement to the form. Bo Arenander´s pieces offer references to the human body, either in motion or in rest. In his work he strives for a fusion between new and old expressions. Completely hand coiled and modelled with the utmost precision and attention to detail Arenander builds a hollow form continuously smoothing the piece to create a three dimensional work made to be enjoyed from every angle. The clay is left raw or finished with a matte engobe giving it a tactile surface that softly reflects light and enhances the curves.
